The Precious Blood of Jesus

July is traditionally dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus.

This devotion has existed since Early Christianity, but it officially became a devotion when Pope Pius XI created a feast day honoring the Precious Blood of Jesus to beg God’s heavenly aid to end the war and bring peace to Rome. After creating this feast, war soon ended and there was peace in Rome! This feast was officially established, overtime, to be celebrated on July 1st.

As Christians, we honor the Precious Blood of Jesus for giving us eternal redemption and eternal healing from both spiritual and physical ailments!

“The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7b

“In Him. we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7

“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

Our Lord Jesus, through His Precious Blood, gave us eternal peace, opened the doors of Heaven to have intimacy with God!

“But now in Christ Jesus you who were once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13

How can we be devoted to the Precious Blood of Jesus daily?

  1. Through Holy Mass: We witness Jesus giving His own Body and Blood for our salvation!

  2. Every day, we can ask Jesus to apply His Precious Blood on all our 5 senses and ask Jesus to wash our heart with His Precious Blood to grow in purity and holiness!

  3. We can meditate on moments where Jesus poured His Precious Blood onto this Earth while He was walking on this Earth and pray that His Precious Blood sanctifies and purifies the entire Church and the whole world.

Jesus shed His blood during:

  1. His Circumcision

  2. The Agony in the Garden

  3. The Scourging at the Pillar

  4. The Crowning of Thorns

  5. The Way of the Cross

  6. The Crucifixion (Nailing in His hands and feet)

  7. The Piercing of His heart

May the Precious Blood of Jesus continually wash us and purify us to fully live for Him and to become saints in Heaven!
